Objective: Teachers will understand how to create and administer an online assessment using Engrade and how to create a variety of question types by creating a practice test with 3 different types of questions.
- We will watch this short video together, please follow along on your laptop.
- Follow these steps to create your own assessment:

step 1 Select Tests & Quizzes
- You must first select a class to create a test for that class.
- You can then select Tests & Quizzes from the left sidebar.

step 2 Select Create New Test
- The Assigned Tests tab displays all of the tests that have been assigned to your selected class.
- You can view each assigned test’s name, start date, end date, status and other options.
- Click the Create New Test button to create a new test.

step 3 Complete the options for your test
- On the Create New Test page, enter the following options for your test:
- Test Title: Enter the title of your test.
- Subject: Select the appropriate subject area.
- Minimum/Maximum Grade Level: Select the desired minimum and maximum grade levels that apply to your test.
- Time Limit: Select the desired time limit for taking the test or choose “None.”
- Default Display Options: Click the checkbox next to each option you would like to enable:
- Randomize question order allows you to randomize the order of questions on your test.
- Show question type instructions displays instructions on how to answer each type of question to students.
- Allow students to navigate questions allows students to skip or go back to questions via a navigation bar at the top of the test.
- Allow students to cross out incorrect answers allows students to eliminate answer choices for multiple choice questions.
- Allow students to highlight text allows students to use a highlighter tool to highlight text within passages and questions.
- Allow students to take notes provides students with a notepad to take notes throughout the test.
- Allow students to use a calculator provides students with a calculator tool to use during the test.
- Calculator type: If you select the option to allow students to use a calculator while test-taking, you will have the option to select a Simple, Scientific or Graphing calculator type.
- Default Answer Viewing: Choose the option that best describes how you would like your students to be able to view their answers: students can never view answers, students can view answers after completing a test, or students can view answers only after the test is closed.

step 4 Complete remaining options
- To tag your test with searchable parameters, click More options and tags…
- Custom Introduction: Enter a message for students or any special instructions for the test in this field. Students will view this information immediately prior to taking the test.
- Description: Enter a description of your test, if desired.
- Student Populations: Check the box next to English Language Learners (ELL) or Gifted Students to tag the test appropriately.
- Language: Select a language from the drop-down menu.
- To tag your test with searchable parameters, click More options and tags…

step 5 Click Submit
- Click the green Submit button to create your test.
Once you have finished creating a test, you will want to assign it to your class(es). If you teach the same material in many of your classes, you may want to assign the same test to several classes. This topic describes how to assign a test to multiple classes at once.

step 1 Select Tests & Quizzes
- You must first select the class for which you want to assign the test.
- You can then select Tests & Quizzes from the left sidebar.

step 2 Select Your Test Library
- Select the Your Test Library tab to view the test library.

step 3 Select a test
- Select the name of the test you wish to assign.

step 4 Select Assign to Class
- Click on the Assign to Class button to assign the test to your class.
- Please note: You will not be able to edit your test once assigned.

step 5 Select classes
- To assign the test to additional classes, select the class(es) to which you would like to assign the test from the drop-down menu next to Other Classes.
- Once you have selected a class, it will be listed below the drop-down menu with a check box next to it.

step 6 Select Assign to Class
- Click on the green Assign to Class button to assign the test to the selected classes.

Finals Schedule (5 mins)
Benchmark Updates
- Teachers will receive individual student Engrade usernames and passwords to pass out to Advisory students on Monday, 12/15
- All classes (include Honors and A.P.) will have Benchmarks except P.E., Art, French, and A.P. Literature.
- Data will be available as soon as assessments are finished, but the system will be fastest at the end of the day.
- Be sure to check students have completed the Benchmark by selecting the class and test, on the "Test Progress" page it will show you which students are complete.
