November 5th PD Digital Agenda

Classroom Management Strategy: Teach Like A Champion - "What To Do" (15 mins)
2.2 A Behavioral Expectations

What It Is: Give directions to students in a way that provides clear and useful guidance – enough to allow any student to do as asked easily.

How to Do It:  
  1. List directions for each activity/station in order in the Digital Agenda
  2. Go over it with students before beginning BLAST/activity
  3. Model how to do each step
  4. Do a quick check for understanding on the directions for each activity/station
  5. Check out an example of how I used this in my classroom here
Apply It: Take 5 mins and pull up your Digital Agenda for Thurs/Fri.  Use this time to improve directions for one of your activities/stations and email it to Ms. Hansen at khansen@laalliance.org

Committee Time (35 mins)

Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee will be responsible for advising Administration on the course of professional development during the school year, so teachers should bring any recommendations to members of the professional development team. The expectation is that there will be equal representation on this team from each subject-area department. Administrators will also be a part of this team. This team will meet once per month to discuss school-wide professional development issues.

Sunshine/ Parent Engagement Committee

The Sunshine/Parent Engagement Committee will be responsible for maintaining and upholding professionalism and collegiality between faculty and staff, increasing parent engagement, and encouraging, celebrating, and acknowledging school wide student achievement.

Operations/Safety/Uniform Committee
The Operations/Safety/Uniform Committee is responsible for developing a plan of action to address facilities/maintenance concerns and to review, revise, and develop current emergency response plans during school emergency.  The committee is also responsible for discussing dress code policies.

Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee is responsible for the implementation of the advisory curriculum for all 9 - 12 grades. Some of advisory activities that the Advisory Committee may be responsible for is developing an action plan to increase Lexile Scores, determining a process for selecting a school-wide reading book, and creating a lesson template that each grade level can submit.

Using a blog is a quick and easy way to have your digital content all in one place!  It makes content easily accessible on student iPads, and provides great resources for at home learning!
